The Art Collection Telekom is exploring new territory with Digital Art. This collection segment aims to support and promote the future development of digitized art works in a long term perspective.
Digital Art, as integral part of the Art Collection Telekom, has been initiated 2011 and is concentrated in the initial phase mainly on single images. An open call for submissions has been issued every two years (2011, 2013 and the current 2015 call) directly to artists from Eastern and South-Eastern Europe. The artistic board together with the curators of the Art Collection Telekom select works for acquisition from the submitted proposals.
These works are not brought together as physical objects or pictures, but instead are available in digital format as image files. Alongside the images, the resulting picture archive provides background information on the individual works and artists. It is available to the employees of Deutsche Telekom for internal use. Motifs can be chosen from among the stock of image files and printed out in defined formats, perfect for placing in the working environment.
As art is visual communication about our shared reality, Digital Art aims to integrate this experience into our everyday life.
